Xbox Cloud Gaming available on Fire TV Sticks from Amazon

Xbox Cloud Gaming

Xbox announced in June the launch of its Cloud Gaming app on Amazon’s Fire TV Stick, marking a significant expansion of cloud gaming accessibility. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members in over 25 countries can now play their favorite titles directly from the Xbox app on select Fire TV devices. This collaboration aims to offer more gaming choices and flexibility to users, making console-free gaming a reality.

The Xbox app will be available on the Fire TV Stick 4K Max and Fire TV Stick 4K. To use the app, gamers need a supported Fire TV device, a Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller, and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. The app supports various controllers, including the Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, PlayStation DualSense, and DualShock 4 controllers.

Cloud Gaming

The launch of Xbox Cloud Gaming on Fire TV is part of Microsoft’s broader strategy to bring cloud gaming to more devices and audiences globally. Ashley McKissick, Corporate Vice President of Xbox Experiences and Platforms Engineering, highlighted this initiative as a step towards expanding the Xbox ecosystem and welcoming new players.

This move aligns with Xbox’s goal of making gaming as accessible and ubiquitous as streaming services like Netflix. By integrating with Fire TV, Xbox eliminates the need for a dedicated gaming console, allowing more users to experience high-quality gaming with just a streaming device and a controller.

The significance of this launch extends beyond just Xbox and Amazon. It reflects a growing trend in the gaming industry towards cloud-based services, which offer convenience and flexibility that traditional consoles cannot match. By leveraging cloud technology, Xbox aims to reach a wider audience and provide seamless gaming experiences across various devices.
