Asus has apparently verified the ROG Ally X’s specifications with Videocardz, revealing what to anticipate when it debuts at this year’s Computex Expo. Starting its leak revelation with the words “No more rumors,” the gaming site VideoCardz claims that the ROG Ally X shares the same 7-inch 1080p VRR screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and the same Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU as the previous ROG Ally device. This year’s expo will be held in Taiwan from June 4–7 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. A formal announcement is expected from ASUS at Computex, with a likely global release following afterwards.
The ROG XG Mobile port connector for external GPUs has apparently been replaced with USB4 Type-C, which supports DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery 3.0. The new ROG Ally X will also provide double the storage capacity at 1TB and provide 24GB of faster LPDDR5(X)-7500 RAM, up from the 16GB of LPDDR5-6400 on the previous device.
Despite its powerful components, the device is equipped with a high-capacity battery that provides up to 8 hours of use on a single charge. This is double the previous models battery capacity. For gamers who require extended battery life, the laptop supports fast charging, allowing it to quickly recharge and get back into action.
The ASUS ROG Ally X runs on a customized version of Windows 11, tailored specifically for gaming. This gives it a significant advantage over other handheld gaming devices that run on more limited operating systems. With Windows 11, users have access to a vast library of PC games through platforms like Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox Game Pass.
ASUS has also included its proprietary Armoury Crate software, which serves as the central hub for all gaming-related settings and customisations. Through Armoury Crate, users can adjust performance settings, customize RGB lighting, and manage their game library. This software enhances the user experience by providing a unified interface for all gaming needs.
The new ASUS ROG Ally X represents a significant leap forward in the realm of handheld gaming devices, embodying the intersection of portability and high-performance gaming. This latest addition to ASUS’s Republic of Gamers (ROG) lineup is designed to cater to gamers who demand a console-like experience on the go. It aims to rival other handheld gaming devices by integrating cutting-edge hardware, an ergonomic design, and a robust software ecosystem
